Melanie Olsen, Team Leader, Technology Development – AIMS

Melanie Olsen leads the team at the Australian Institute of Marine Science with the mission to revolutionise marine monitoring technologies across Tropical Australia. Prior to joining AIMS, Melanie spent 10 years working for the Department of Defence on large scale electronics systems. With a Masters in Electronic Warfare Systems Engineering from UNSW and a Bachelor Honours Degree in Computer Systems Engineering from JCU, Melanie has a strong background in autonomous systems, electronics and cyber-security. Mel has led the Australian engineering effort and represented multi-national teams during cutting edge product design & development. Melanie’s interest is to harness new technology and innovative techniques to deliver outcomes in an efficient manner.
